I know some people  struggling hard due to over body weight. They put themselves into agony by making severe fasting and vigorous exercises. But all these works without a proper guidance or a systematic approach do any good I think. I hope some of you may be very familiar with Yoga. Anyway I shall give a very brief description to it, for those who are unfamiliar with the word. “Yoga is a healing system of theory and practice. A terror attack takes place in Mumbai by 9.30pm of November 26th. Shoot at places like Nariman Point and CST stations.. According to the latest news one hundred and twenty seven people are dead and hundred more injured. Eleven policeman dead in separate firing incidents in Colaba in south Mumbai. Terrorists are now suspected to be in Oberoi Hotel In Mumbai. Oberai hotel lobby is on fire after terror attack according to the live reports.

According to Plice a group of terrorists entered in VT railway station. Police have cornered the railway station now. Firing at Cama Hospital and grenade also used. Two blasts near Trident Hotel. Prime Ministers Office now confirmed five blasts in Mumbai. Maharashtra ATS chief and Asst Commissioner is reported as shot dead by the Terrorists. It is suspected that terrorists targeted hotels in Mumbai. Opposition Leader Advani asks PM to act immediately. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra is reported as rushed to the places. The actual number of causalities and the depth of attacks are not available yet.

A group calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attacks but little is known of it. The men were of South Asian appearance and reportedly spoke Hindi, indicating they originated in India. Attacks over recent years have seen a variety of different groups named, particularly the Indian Mujahideen who had apparently threatened to attack Mumbai in September, claiming that Muslims had been harassed.

The authorities have often pointed the finger at the Students’ Islamic Movement of India, believing that other groups like the Indian Mujahideen are a front for this banned organisation. Some attacks have also been blamed on Lashkar-e-Toiba, which India says is backed by Pakistan’s intelligence agency the ISI.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif , born in Hong Kong on July 16, 1984, One of eight siblings. Kaif was born to an Indian Kashmiri father and British mother, was brought up in Hawaii. She has seven sisters. She started modelling at the age of 14, when she was approached for a jewellery campaign. After that she continued modeling in London.

Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie “Boom” offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad. She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Professionally she started off as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar, and upon being accepted, she received offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme, & Veet. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.

Moving to different culture and country was not much of a culture shock for her, as she states that no matter where you come from, the bottom line is that everyone wants to be loved, respected, and cared for. Unlike other artistes from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any difficulties in getting a visa nor of getting it extended in India.

Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artistes like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She is taking Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.

Despite of her soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, almost an incurable romantic, wears comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. Admitting to being lonely in the beginning, but now has several nice friends who she can hang out with.

Although her first movie “Boom” was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, two other Telegu movies “Malliswari” and “Pidugu” did get her noticed. She grossed Rs.70 lakhs for Malliswari – making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut.

Not done with South Indian movies, she has been signed in a Tamil movie “Bheema” opposite National Award Winner Vikram. She has received decent reviews for her part in “Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya”, as well as a brief appearance in “Sarrkar”. Katrina has now made Bombay her base, and doesn’t mind singing and dancing around trees while she’s at it, and is determined to make it big in Bollywood.

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor, born 21 September 1980, is a four-time Filmfare Award-winning prominent Indian actress who appears in Bollywood movies. Born into an old and influential film family of Punjabi origin in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Kareena’s name was inspired by the book, Anna Karenina.Kareena is the grand-daughter of Raj Kapoor, who acted in and directed many successful movies and is also the great grand-daughter of Prithviraj Kapoor. Kareena was born to actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, who had divorced when she was still young.

Kareena had planned to debut in Rakesh Roshan’s “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai” but left the project a few days into the filming.She made her debut in J.P. Dutta’s moderately successful “Refugee” in 2000 with Abhishek Bachchan and won critical acclaim for portraying the role of a Pakistani girl. The role earned her a Filmfare Best Debut Award and the film went on to become the fifth highest grossing film of that year.

In 2001, films like “Yaadein” and “Asoka” followed for her which did poorly at the box office. However her breakthrough performance of a princess in the latter was acclaimed and earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. Her next release, “Ajnabee” fared moderately well and became one of the highest grossing films of that year.

Success followed for her with films like “Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”. The former became one of the biggest hits of that year and the latter became the second highest grossing film of 2001.These successes established her as one of the industry’s most successful stars.

Kapoor was in great demand after these successes and signed many new movies, but most of them failed to do well.Even much-hyped films like “Mujhse Dosti Karoge” (2002) and “Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon”(2003) that came from big banners like Yash Raj Films and Rajshri Productions failed to do well in India but generated decent business overseas.

She also gained critical acclaim for her de-glamorized role in the critically acclaimed “Dev”, for which she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance, and her negative role in Fida. Her other films in 2004 included the moderately successful “Aitraaz” and the semi-hit “Hulchul”.

She followed through with moderately successful films like “Bewafaa” and “Dosti: Friends Forever” in 2005. Her performance as a young woman who marries her sister’s husband in the former was well received by critics.

“36 China Town” was Kareena’s first release in 2006 followed by “Chup Chup Ke”. Both films managed to do moderately well at the box office. Her performance as Desdemona in the Indian adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello, “Omkara” was praised,earning her a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance and a Star Screen Award for Best Actress.

Her performance in the film also landed her various nominations for Best Actress at different award ceremonies including the Filmfare Awards. In the same year, she also won favorable reviews for her item number in the hit movie “Don – The Chase Begins Again”.

TAJ MAHAL is one of the seven wonders of the world. Any one who knows India is familiar with the name Taj Mahal . The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, that was built under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

The Taj Mahal is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was cited as “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.”

While the white domed marble and tile mausoleum is most familiar, Taj Mahal is an integrated symmetric complex of structures that was completed around 1648. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri is generally considered as the principal designer of Taj Mahal.

History of Taj Mahal

It is a symbol of the eternal andeverlasting love that Shah Jehan showed for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal married Shah Jehan in 1612 . This was his second marriage, and the couple loved each other greatly. Mumtaz Mahal had fourteen children while with Shah Jehan, and died in child birth in 1630 while away on a battle with Shah Jehan . Legend has it that Shah Jehan was so devastated by her death that in the course of only a few months, his beard and hair had turned completely white. Mumtaz Mahal’s body was buried for six months, then was returned to Agra, later to be permanently buried in the Taj Mahamumtaz1.

The Taj Mahal, designed by two Persian architects, was built by Shah Jehan to create a memorial for Mumtaz Mahal. This monument was constructed as a display of Shah Jehan’s eternal love for his wife . The building of the Taj began in 1632. An army of 20,000 workers labored on this structure . The Taj Mahal is often referred to as “the greatest single work of Safavid art ever constructed”. In 1648, on the exact anniversary of Mumtaz’s death, this wonderful monument was completed . The garden

The complex is set around a large 300 meters square charbagh, a Mughal garden. The garden uses raised pathways that divide each of the four quarters of the garden into 16 sunken parterres or flowerbeds. A raised marble water tank at the center of the garden, halfway between the tomb and gateway, with a reflecting pool on North-South axis reflect the image of Taj Mahal. Elsewhere, the garden is laid out with avenues of trees and fountains. The charbagh garden, a design inspired by Persian gardens, was introduced to India by the first Mughal emperor Babur. It symbolizes four flowing rivers of Paradise and reflects the gardens of Paradise and derived from the Persian paridaeza, meaning ‘a walled garden’.

Tourism

The Taj Mahal attracts 2 to 3 million visitors every year with more than 200,000 from overseas. Most tourists visit during the cooler months of October, November and February. Polluting traffic is not allowed near the complex and tourist must either walk from the carparks or catch an electric bus. Lists of recommended travel destinations often feature Taj Mahal, which also appears in several listings of seven wonders of the modern world, including the recently announced New Seven Wonders of the World, a recent poll with 100 million votes.

For security reasons , only five items – water in transparent bottles, small video cameras, still cameras, mobile phones and small ladies-purse – are allowed inside the Taj Mahal.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Indianisation of the superior Civil Services became one of the major demands of the political movement compelling the British Indian Government to consider setting up of a Public Service Commission for recruitment to its services in the territory. The first Public Service Commission was set up on October 1st, 1926. However, its limited advisory functions failed to satisfy the people’s aspirations and the continued stress on this aspect by the leaders of our freedom movement resulted in the setting up of the Federal Public Service Commission under the Government of India Act 1935. Under this Act, for the first time, provision was also made for the formation of Public Service Commissions at the provincial level.

The Constituent Assembly, after independence, saw the need for giving a secure and autonomous status to Public Service Commissions both at Federal and Provincial levels for ensuring unbiased recruitment to Civil Services as also for protection of service interests. With the promulgation of the new Constitution for independent India on 26th January, 1950, the Federal Public Service Commission was accorded a constitutional status as an autonomous entity and given the title – Union Public Service Commission

Constitutional Provisions

The Union Public Service Commission has been established under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. The Commission consists of a Chairman and ten Members.

The terms and conditions of service of Chairman and Members of the Commission are governed by the Union Public Service Commission (Members) Regulations, 1969.

The Commission is serviced by a Secretariat headed by a Secretary with two Additional Secretaries, a number of Joint Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and other supporting staff.

The Union Public Service Commission have been entrusted with the following duties and role under the Constitution:

1. Recruitment to services & posts under the Union through conduct of competitive examinations;

2. Recruitment to services & posts under the Central Government by Selection through Interviews;

3. Advising on the suitability of officers for appointment on promotion as well as transfer-on-deputation;

4. Advising the Government on all matters relating to methods of Recruitment to various services and posts;

5. Disciplinary cases relating to different civil services; and

6. Miscellaneous matters relating to grant of extra ordinary pensions, reimbursement of legal expenses etc.

The major role played by the Commission is to select persons to man the various Central Civil Services and Posts and the Services common to the Union and States (viz. All-India Services).
